Blogger.com pages - front page vs older blog posts

When I am on the home page to my Blogger err... blog, I'm able to click on the Zotero icon in the address bar and Zotero will save the data as "blog post." If I view one of the older postings on the same blog, however, Zotero apparently doesn't recognize I'm viewing a blog entry. If I open Zotero and save one of the older posts, it will save as a "webpage." (To which I then need to add information.)

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a widget I should add to the blog? --GJ
  • Can you provide URLs of pages that show the second behavior? That'll make testing a bit easier.
  • Hi Ajlyon:

  • Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/Blogger.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.
  • TYTY ...

I'll blog about this today so that other genealogists will know. TYTY
  • :(

    No joy.

I'm on a Mac, current OS 10.6.7; accessing via Firefox.

There was a blogger.js in the Zotero translators directory, but I created the new file and saved it to that directory.

There was no change--it still only creates a blog "type" if I'm on the blog home page.

Thank you for your help. --GJ
  • did you replace the old blogger.js file? Did you restart your browser?
  • Yes, I did replace the old Blogger.js and yes, I did restart the browser. --GJ
  • Working!! WORKING!!

I deleted the file I had created, then restored the old Blogger.js, then opened it with textedit and replaced the content. Then resaved.

    It's working now.

    Thank you!! --GJ
  • Again I spoke too soon.

    Here are my details.

With the revised Blogger.js, Zotero creates the "blog post" item type, but it looks so me as though it's trying to capture the nav bar rather than the page.

Here's the page I'm trying to capture.
    http://theycamebefore.blogspot.com/2011/01/please-lets-not-wiki-familysearch.html

    Here's the URL it's capturing.

Will you let me know if you are able to recreate the problem? --GJ
  • Sorry about that. This version should work:
Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/Blogger.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.
