Upgrade StorageZotero's plugin for Microsoft Word: MSI version of installer file

I'm trying to promote the use of Zotero at ISCTE (http://iscte.pt/). Word integration is an essential feature for most potential users. Hence, I would like to install it centrally. An MSI version of the installer file would be very useful.

Is it possible to make an MSI package where the target destination for the plugin file depends on the presence and values or certain registry keys? The current installer checks for the path of the Word template folder, where the plugin should be placed. As there is a lot of diversity in template folder paths, this feature really is required, but I don't know it if can be done with MSI-installers.
