Update problem

Hi there - I've recently installed new Firefox/Zotero updates, but when I try to install new styles (regardless if they are mine or ones from the citation style repository) I get this message:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Any tips?

Cheers!
  • Really getting a bit impatient now after updating Firefox and Zotero....I get either one of two problems:

    1) When I click on "install" in the citation style repository an awful lot of journals are giving me error messages like this:

http://www.zotero.org/styles/nature-methods/dev?install=1 references an invalid or non-existent CSL file at http://www.zotero.org/styles/nature as its source

and so I cannot install them....

    2) ....those few, which I can proceed and then drag the file across to Firefox I get this error:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

    Help, greatly appreciated!
  • Nature Methods installs fine for me.

Try clearing your browser cache and try disabling other Firefox extensions. If you still have trouble, provide a Report ID.
  • I got the same error with Nature methods - Report ID but no number...:

[JavaScript Error: "xml is a reserved identifier"]

[JavaScript Error: "xml is a reserved identifier"]

    Will try clearing cache now...

What do you mean "no number"? It will give you a Report ID once you submit the error report.
  • Sorry, my bad - I hadn't read that I needed to click on continue.

Close Firefox, rename the 'translators' directory in your Zotero data directory to 'translators-old', and restart Firefox.

That will probably fix the problem. If so, zip up the 'translators-old' directory (Control-click, "Compress ...") and e-mail it to support@zot....org with a link to this thread so that we can take a look at what caused this.

(This is equivalent to resetting translators in the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences, but we'd like to see what went wrong here.)
  • OK, you already fixed this. Please don't create new threads for the same issue.
  • Hi I wanted to write this morning that it had been fixed.

Apologies for starting 2 threads, but this thread was started after my previous one because the problem that I was having seemed more widespread and no one had reacted to my previous thread at that time point. Sorry!
