EBSCOhost saving problem

I'm getting a "could not save" error when trying to save articles from several EBSCOhost databases. I've gone through the steps on the "troubleshooting translator issues page." I'm not accessing EBSCOhost through a proxy, and I'm running Firefox version 4.0 and the most recent version of Zotero (which I just downloaded today).

Here's an error report from a failed attempt to save: (the username is edited)

[JavaScript Error: "Error: Permission denied to access property 'evaluate'" {file: "file:///Users/XXXX/Library/Application%20Support/Firefox/Profiles/6g1dks2u.default/zotero/translators/EBSCOhost.js" line: 0}]

Here's an example URL of an article that I'm not able to save:

Any suggestions for how I can get this working?
  • I'm still having the exact same problem, 2 days later. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it? Any help would be great appreciated!

Just to reiterate, here's the error report, with my username X'ed out:

[JavaScript Error: "Error: Permission denied to access property 'evaluate'" {file: "file:///Users/XXXX/Library/Application%20Support/Firefox/Profiles/6g1dks2u.default/zotero/translators/EBSCOhost.js" line: 0}]

  • This sounds like something that's arising from cross-domain requests. I haven't managed to replicate it, but I'll keep trying.
  • This is a general issue affecting many proxy users who use EBSCOhost.

Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/EBSCOhost.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.

If this doesn't work for you, see http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/17123/ebscohost-translator-error/#Comment_88469 and direct your library staff to adjust the parameters accordingly.
  • Please ignore the bit about proxies, I suppose. The updated translator might still do the trick.
