Firefox crashes every time I open Zotero since the 2.1.5 upgrade

Help !!

I upgraded firefox to 4.0 and I still can't use Zotero anymore...
  • What do you mean by "crashes"?
  • Crash: none of Firefox tabs are accessible and the only option is to terminate Firefox.

Maybe you have made some changes in the Zotero program, because since I wrote the message I can now open a tab with Zotero without Firefox crashing, but I cannot add any reference and it does not synchronize , there is an error message 'A sync process is already running. To view progress, check the window in which the sync began or restart Firefox' although I have only one tab with Zotero open, and no other window. I also tried to restart Firefox many times but it doesn't work.

Thanks for your help in any case
  • OK, that'd be a freeze, not a crash. Most likely Zotero was simply trying to perform a large sync operation, which could cause Firefox to become temporarily unresponsive.

And Firefox has a habit of not closing completely on Windows. Restart your computer and try again, and if it freezes when you open the Zotero pane, just give it time to finish. (You can also disable auto-sync in the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences, which you can access via Tools->Add-ons without opening Zotero, and sync whenever is convenient, though we recommend keeping auto-sync enabled.)
  • thanks, everything is working fine !!
  • I am on a mac using FF 3.6. Since the upgrades for zotero and macword integration were installed yesterday, I cannot work in the zotero window panel without it freezing FF. So, for example, I can search in Google Scholar and save a resource to my library by clicking the icon in the address bar, but if I try to open the pdf by double clicking in zotero it freezes. Alternatively, if I try to drag and drop a resource into zotero, it will be copied there, but then the spinning color wheel of death emerges.

Also, once I force quit and re-launch, I get the message (some thing like) "This is embarrassing, we can't seem to recreate your session. Please close the tab causing the problem." I actually don't have to close any tabs and it can reproduce my session.
  • And, I read a response yesterday that it could be that I'm trying an action during a sync. But I was sure to wait until it was no longer syncing. I haven't tried disabling auto-sync. Kind of didn't want to do that.
  • cloe: Disabling auto-sync is just a diagnostic measure. Try it.
  • I tried it. It still freezes.
  • Start a new thread, then.
  • Tonight when I opened FireFox it prompted me to update to 4.0. Zotero problems seem to be solved.
