Upgrade StorageFirefox and Communication Error whilst no Internet Connection
First of all: Thanks so much for Zotero! It is really saving my thesis!
I had the problem, that when I had no Internet Connection working with OpenOffice and tried to insert a citation, I recieved the known message: "OpenOffice.org could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure ...etc"
This only occured when I hadn*t a internet connection. Otherwise everything worked just perfectly fine.
Now, I found out it is actually not so much a problem based on Zotero but on Firefox. Everytime I started Firefox without an internet connection alive, it started in "Working Offline" mode. So I had the message in my Zotero-Debugging report: "ZoteroOpenOfficeIntegration: Browser is offline -- not initializing communication server"
So a workaround solution was to prevent firefox starting in Offline-Mode whilst there is no internet connection.
How to do that?
- Just type "about:config" in the adress field of firefox
- filter for "toolkit.networkmanager.disable" and alter to "true"
- filter for "browser.offline" and alter to "false"
This solved my problem!

Das Einfügen von Zitaten in OpenOffice war nicht möglich, die schon bekannte Fehlermeldung:"OpenOffice.org could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure ...etc" erschien und es ging nicht weiter.
Nun habe ich herausgefunden, dass es sich hierbei nicht so sehr um ein Zotero Problem handelt, als vielmehr damit zu tun hat, dass bei fehlender Internet Verbindung der Firefox-Browser im Offlne-Modus startete. Das hielt den Zotero Communication-Server davon ab, was sich aus dem Debug-Protokoll ergab: "ZoteroOpenOfficeIntegration: Browser is offline -- not initializing communication server"
Die Lösung war es, Firefox davon abzuhalten, automatisch im Offline-Modus zu starten.
Und das geht so:
In die Adresszeile von Firefox about:config eingeben und dann filtern nach
- "toolkit.networkmanager.disable" and den Wert auf "true" ändern
- "browser.offline" und den Wert auf "false" ändern
Firefox und OpenOffice neustarten und weiter geht's!
Sollte auch Plattform übergreifend helfen, habe ich aber nicht getestet!
