Manual edits lost after Zotero updgrade

Hello,

Pertinent info:
Firefox 3.6.16
Zotero 2.1.1
Windows XP
No report ID

My first time posting to the forum. I'm using zotero in my dissertation. I was recently prompted to upgrade zotero and I did. Since then, I have received this message whenever I have attempted to add a new citation to a document: "Your document must be permanently upgraded in order to work with Zotero 2.1 or later. It is recommended that you make a backup before proceeding. Are you sure you want to continue?"

I proceed by backing up my document and then allow the permanent upgrade. When I do so, however, two things happen. One, citations that I had manually edited in the zotero edit citation window have reverted back, for example Smith (1990) now appears (Smith, 1990). In addition, some of the dates are now stored as Spr 2000 for Spring 2000 and now citations where that occurs look like (Smith, Spr) in my document instead of (Smith, 2000). In another example, first names have appeared in full for some of my citations as well.

Basically it seems like all my manual editing was lost when the upgrade happened. In addition, it seems the way information is stored in the library is now different (for instance the Spr 2000 which appeared as 2000 only, under the year previously).

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
