error code: " you must insert a citation before performing this operation"

Suddenly I am getting the error code: " you must insert a citation before performing this operation" in two of my PC Word docs that are linked with Zotero when I try to edit notes. Zotero is open in my Firefox browser when I get this error. I tried resaving the files and copying and pasting the text from the files into new docs but am getting the same errors.

    that sounds like the link to Zotero might be broken.
    What happens if tou try to insert a bibliography?

    That worked. Inserting a new bibliography seemed to re-establish the link to Zotero. All set now.
