Item Type "Conference Paper", Request for Additional Field "location"
Dear all,
There is only one single place field for conference papers in Zotero. Using Bibtex export this field is translated to the “address” field in bibtex. The bibtex field “location” stands for where the conference took place. The “address” field represents the place where the inproceedings title was published. The values of both fields are usually different.
E. g.:
@inproceedings{Fenz:2010:OGI:1774088.1774478,
author = {Fenz, Stefan},
title = {Ontology-based generation of IT-security metrics},
booktitle = {Proceedings of the 2010 ACM Symposium on Applied Computing},
series = {SAC '10},
year = {2010},
isbn = {978-1-60558-639-7},
location = {Sierre, Switzerland},
pages = {1833--1839},
numpages = {7},
url = {http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1774088.1774478},
doi = {http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1774088.1774478},
acmid = {1774478},
publisher = {ACM},
address = {New York, NY, USA},
keywords = {compliance, economics, metrics, security},
}
Location: Sierre, Switzerland
Address: New York, NY, USA
My question: Can the additional field “location” be added to the item type conference paper?
Thanks in advance,
Iwanai

Thanks. This will solve the problem. Any idea when the next major release will be available?
> I put the location in the conference title - is there a good reason not to?
According to DIN 1505 the conference place is not part of the conference title. All items in my bib list were imported with the place of the conference as address, so that I had to update the items accordingly. Imho it definitely makes sense to distinguish between the place of the conference and the publisher address.
The next major release of Zotero has no concrete timeline, but current development is heading in that direction, so I very much hope to see early development releases of it in the coming months (with schema updates, multilingual, and more!). But I'm speaking in no official capacity (since I have no official capacity), and the real timeline could be radically different.
