child records in recent items

If I look at the recent items list for my group, there are some items with not very useful titles, e.g., "ScienceDirect Snapshot" and "ScienceDirect Full Text PDF":

It turns out that these are child records of another item:

My suggestion is that these child records could be omitted from this recent items display (which would be consistent with the full library view), or perhaps they could be displayed with a visual indicator that they are children of their parent record.
  • I agree. This is a little annoying when taking Zotero's Atom feeds and feeding them into other software. I'd like a flag to hand Zotero so it would show only parent items in feeds, and the child items should indicate their parents on the website.

The website changes, however, probably won't happen quite yet, since the whole website is due to be reworked as part of Zotero Everywhere, hopefully in the near future...
  • The group feed shows last modified items including child items to let people know if another member of the group edits something, for example if I added an item and was waiting for someone else to add/modify a note or annotate an attached pdf that would show up in the feed. That was at least the reasoning for the original choice. ajlyon is correct though that larger changes are on the way including letting you choose sort/display options.

@ajlyon For feeds you are fetching yourself see /top http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/server_api
  • Well I'll be. I had indeed overlooked /top. I'll go add that to my Atom feed request now.
