Royal Society of Chemistry Style

Hi Everyone

1st - love this software

2nd - I'm having a few problems with the standard RSC style on the repo. The two major problems I've come across are that in the bibliography, the page number of a book isn't included. Secondly, when referencing a website, only the author is displayed.

I'm reading about editing styles so will be giving that ago. I just wondered if anyone could tell me at least, the code for displaying the book page number referenced in the bibliography to get me started

Thanks

PS just wanted to add. I tried the RSC ens file from their website and the problem with the books is still there. Am I missing something?
  • could you give an example of the book page number thing - I don't think I'm following what exactly is expected.
  • Thanks for the reply.

Here's an example of what is generated in the bibliography. I add the citation, and add the page number(s) in the add/edit citation window and get this

    1. V. T. Andriole, The Quinolones, Third Edition, Academic Press, 3rd edn., 2000.

There isn't any inclusion of the page numbers added. I'd like to be (for pages 250-251 for eg.)

    1. V. T. Andriole, The Quinolones, Third Edition, Academic Press, 3rd edn., 2000. 250-251

    Hope that makes sense,

    Thanks
  • That can't be done - I also don't think it _should_ be done. The only relevant example in the style guide refers to a book section (for those, page numbers should display correctly). RSC doesn't seem to require that you cite specific pages in books that you use. If I'm wrong about that, please provide a sample quotation from an article.

The webpage is probably just not coded - many styles just deal with the principal formates - book, book section, journal, conference - and don't account for the rest.
  • @adamsmith

Thanks for your reply. That's cool if RSC don't require page numbers as standard, I can live with that.

Regarding the website, it's just odd how in the bibliography, it just generates the author and no additional details.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies, I need to double check with my supervisor anyway how she wants things referenced.

    thanks for the help
