Libre/Open Office citations in frames

At the moment Zotero does not let me put citations inside any drawing object or picture, as well as any caption on them. This causes some inconvenience for me when I try and cite a reference for my figures. If forced to include a citation with copy and paste Zotero gives a illegal argument exception when told to do anything after this point. Is this the same bug that was causing problems for tables, or is it a different bug?

If this is a different bug do you have a bug id for this issue (so that I can find out when the underlying issue is fixed?) and have you contacted the developers of LibreOffice concerning this to see whether they can provide a fix?

With thanks

  • Without knowing for sure I'd figure that it's just not possible to insert Reference Marks into frames - that would make sense, intuitively. Considering that, especially for figures, the text is treated as a graphic object, that might be hard to do, too.

The standard work-around is to just write in the citation and add it to the bibliography using "edit bibliography".

Also, my experience with all professional publishers is that the do not want captions as part of the figures, so you should make sure that's even required.
  • Thank you - that will work for me. This is for my thesis not a journal article so I do need to do this some way, but only for a few things. Undergrads and taught postgraduates will need this more than me, I understand that this is a niche case for you though.
