launchNonNativeFiles

HI, just installed Zotero 2.1b7 really loving zotero as a tab.

I'm running Ubunto 10.10, Firefox 3.6.13

There've been long running problems (due to Gnome and Firefox not playing nicely in Ubuntu) about switching pdf viewer from the default document viewer Evince when launching pdf files from within Zotero.

So I tried setting launchNonNativeFiles to true. Restarted Firefox but double clicking on a pdf still launches Evince. If I show file, then double click, this launches Foxit, or whatever pdf viewer I've selected.

Regards, Jon
  • File opening on Linux is a mess, but there's no bug in Zotero here—all Zotero does is call a method that Firefox provides to launch the file via the OS, and that works fine for me. More likely your file or window manager is set to open PDF files using Foxit and your window manager or OS is set to open via Evince, and due to the way Linux works, these aren't necessarily the same.

See the second part of http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/file_handling_issues for some suggestions.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to see the other threads on this. They were about exactly this—not about opening files within Zotero (since that just uses the Firefox settings).
