Zotero interacting with Word-J. of Animal Science Format

Ran into a bit of a hiccup with a custom citation style for the Journal of Animal Science.

A google search turned up a hit from Fort Hays State Univ. I've been trying to update it and validate the format (its a format unique to this journal) for submission to the style repository.

I was having issues with the style as in text citations would generate an "et al.," for two or more authors (should only be 3+). When I ran it through the test window, the citation appeared correctly. I eventually removed all of the Zotero code from the Word doc and reinserted the citations, a bit painfull but it worked. Anyone have a similar experience? I am assuming this is a Word 07 issue .

I am still trying to validate the csl and I am still learning this language, so posting to the style repository may take awhile. Message me if you would like to see the csl file.
  • feel free to come here for help.
Impossible to say what happened in the Word document - if the citations had been edited with show editor before that would be one reason that could cause this.
You need to switch styles back and forth in Word after updating a style, that might have been a factor, too.
  • Apparently it appears that what I was doing to switch citation styles to update the style within word, was equivalent to me running around in cirlces, exhausting but it doesn't get you anywhere and at the end of the day you end up looking like Chris Farley's motivational speaker from SNL.

    It works correctly now though.

Thanks for the help Adam, I'll make sure to post my questions once I can figure out what the validation errors mean. Right now there is about 20 when I use the online validator.
