IEEE Xplore

  • Hi,
    I've been using the same link which I gave you. To make sure I even used the link you provided in your last message. The paper is by Keam and Williamson on Broadband Waveguide transition.

    I've tried downloading the translator from github and restarted firefox and it still fails. To double check, here are the first few lines of the translator I downloaded from github:

    {
    "translatorID": "92d4ed84-8d0-4d3c-941f-d4b9124cfbb",
    "label": "IEEE Xplore",
    "creator": "Simon Kornblith, Michael Berkowitz, Bastian Koenings, and Avram Lyon",
    "target": "^https?://[^/]*ieeexplore\\.ieee\\.org[^/]*/(?:[^\\?]+\\?(?:|.*&)arnumber=[0-9]+|search/(?:searchresult.jsp|selected.jsp))",
    "minVersion": "2.1",
    "maxVersion": "",
    "priority": 100,
    "inRepository": true,
    "translatorType": 4,
    "lastUpdated": "2011-06-04 12:17:06"
    }

    The only other thing I can think of is if there is something funny about the way our subscription to the IEEE. I've tried this both from work and from home and they both fail. The only commonality is userid and login to the IEEE I'm using. When I try it from home here's the log file I get (note I've omitted the last line since it is very long):
    4)(+0000000): Translate: Parsing code for IEEE Xplore

    (3)(+0000001): Translate: Beginning translation with IEEE Xplore

    (3)(+0000003): created hidden browser (1)

    After this I'm not sure what to do. Let me know if you have any ideas or need me to try something.
  • Hi, I've tried doing this from my home machine and it also has problems. So that eliminates the internet proxy at my work.
    Here's the log file I recorded from my home machine
    Note - this for the same file as above:

    Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Run the translator on the abstract page-- on a page that doesn't include the PDF.

    It's also possible that your IEEE subscription is slightly different-- I ran into that problem in the spring and had to make adjustments for subscriber-specific formatting.
  • Thanks. Yes, the translator works for the abstract and search pages.

    Thank you for putting your time and effort into the IEEE translator - which is the main source of my papers. I know the IEEE site has periodically undergone changes and keeping the translator up to date is a pain.
