Export to MODS hangs FF/Zotero 2.1b5

I have an intermittent problem. Sometimes I can export in MODS format without a problem. Other times, Zotero displays the export progress bar but, if allowed, will continue for more than an hour -- the duration of my patience. Although I can use FF by opening another window, the Zotero session is doomed. I must do a force quit of FF to get access to the Zotero debug screen in preferences.

I have two debug numbers for you. The first (D149840941) should show two successful exports and a final export that failed. D1619301365 should show only a failed attempt at performing a MODS export.

FF 3.6.13

The only FF extensions are British English Dictionary 1.19.1, Zotero 2.1b5, and OOo Integration 3.1b1. The only Plugins are Gecko default 2.0 and Flash 10.1.102.64

Could this be related to the number of records I try to export? It seems that if I keep the export below about 20 records the export happens almost instantaneously. More and the export process doesn't complete. Mac with 6 GB RAM. FF is the only running program.

Do other formats work for you? RIS? BibTeX?

Thanks for reporting this. It turned out to be an obnoxious issue with Firefox 3.6 (but apparently not Firefox 4) improperly closing our open streams that took me much too long to troubleshoot, but it's now fixed on the trunk.

Other exports also intermittently fail.

Please explain what "now fixed on the trunk" means to a user as opposed to a developer. Will I receive an automatic update on this? Is there an action I must take to receive the fix? Will I need to wait for another beta release?

Are there Zotero risks to moving to FF 4? I've been holding off on FF 4 primarily out of concerns about Zotero.

Wait for the next beta.

Zotero usually works fine with Firefox 4. There may be some small kinks remaining, particularly since the folks at Mozilla continue to make major API changes, but nothing that should put your data at risk.
