Open Office plugin not working

I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6.6 and have installed Open Office 3.3.0. When I try insert a citation from Zotero, I get a Zotero Integration Error, which reads - "Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed and try again." I've tried to go through the troubleshooting. It seems to say that my Java isn't working (and the pink rectangle doesn't show up). But I have reinstalled Java and have updates and it seems to make no difference. Any ideas?
