Cannot add Citations - Report #73478325

When I try to use any of the Zotero functions in MSWord (12.2.8), I get the following error message: "Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor. Please ensure that the appropriate Firefox extension is installed and try again."

I have since gone through the trouble shooting process on the Zotero website 4 times, including deleting and reinstalling the PythonExt (2.6.2), and restarting Firefox (3.6.13), but I keep getting the same error message. I've tried restarting MSWord as well, to no effect.

My report # is 73478325.
  • so you have checked your Java?
And this is on which OS?
  • I'm not too savvy with under the hood issues.
    - How do I "check Java" and what am I checking for?
    - I'm using OSX 10.6.6

ignore that it says for Open Office. If Java doesn't work, on Mac that's usually a problem related to the Firefox Java plugin.
  • Thanks. I really appreciate your assistance. I just used the link you provided, and it confirms that Java is working fine. What next?
  • wait for one of the devs - they'll know more once they've checked your error report.
  • Java isn't necessary for the Word for Mac plug-in, but your error report suggests that the Word for Mac plug-in isn't actually installed in Firefox. Install it from here (step 2) and try again.
  • Ok. Roughly when will that be? If not within the next 90 minutes, when I have to go, will I need to log back in?
  • Wow. Somehow I missed that step. It's now working. Thanks so much!
