Do you have your NYArc proxy set up in the Zotero preferences? Does Zotero note that you're being proxied when you access ProQuest?

ah, didn't think of that. let me find out...

zotero doesn't have nyarc listed as a proxy. i tried adding the URL for the proquest connection but it says the scheme syntax is wrong.
it's set to automatically recognize proxies.
i had another proxy in there (a university). i deleted it, thinking it was confusing things.
now zotero isn't recognizing any proxied databases.

sorry but still having trouble with this.
can't get zotero to automatically recognize proxies anymore.
automatically recognize proxies is turned on.
tried entering manually but i can't figure out the syntax.
earlier in the chat you asked if "0-" is part of the proxy (http://0-search.proquest.com/...) and the answer is Yes.
should I deinstall Z and start over?

For the Proquest translator to work, the proxy will need to be set up correctly in Zotero. I don't think reinstalling Zotero will help you here.
Try setting the hostname to:
search.proquest.com
and the scheme to:
http://%a-search.proquest.com.arcade.nyarc.org/%p
I think this will work.
