Upgrade StorageDisable search when typing comments

I have been happily using Zotero for almost three years now. Using zotero 2.0.9, today I have come across a small but annoying behaviour which I think would should be changed.
A search using the search box is pretty slow. I assume that is normal because my database is on a net drive and just do not use it very often. But when something is typed into the zotero search box and I edit a comment, a new search is triggered every few seconds. This makes editing a comment painfully slow and it took me some time to trace the the effect to the search box. Can this be disabled somehow, i. e. changes in a comment would not trigger a new/updated search?
