Missing fields in Mac Office 2011

I opened my document in Word 2011 and it removed all the fields, which I didn't discover until I had done about five hours of revisions. Is it possible that the fields are not really deleted, but simply in hiding? I just installed Office 2011 and it seems to have installed Zotero plug-in automatically.
  • What do you mean by "it removed all the fields" (i.e., why do you think this)? What were you using to edit the document before?
  • I started the document in Word 2008. In Word 2008 when I clicked on the field, it turned gray. Now, nothing happens. I assumed this meant the field was gone--is this what you are getting at? That the field might still be there? That would be nice. I guess I could check by trying an "edit field." Hold on.

  • Glad to hear they're still there. There's a field shading preference in Word->Preferences->View that controls the gray shading for fields. While I don't have fresh installations to test on, I would guess that this was on by default in Word 2008 but is now off by default in Word 2011.
