www.cairn.info site translator broken (French academic journals in social sciences)

Hello,

I have a "could not save error" with Cairn and can't send a report of errors -- I cliked on "continue" and waited for 10 minutes as indicated ("Please wait while the report is being sent") but nothing happened.

I copy below what's in the error log.

The CAIRN website uses a DOI translator but apparently is broken. I get a "could not save message" after clicking on the icon in the address bar. For instance, here: http://www.cairn.info/resume.php?ID_ARTICLE=RES_152_0093

I updated Zotero and the site translators and have a recent version of Firefox (3.6.13). I closed and reopened Firefox but the problem remains.

No problem with other websites (except on a specific journal on JSTOR which downloads this Anon, 1926. New Books. The American Economic Review, 16(4), pp.670-675 instead of this Galison, P., 2008. Ten Problems in History and Philosophy of Science. Isis, 99(1), p.111–124, here: http://www.jstor.org/pss/10.1086/587536)

The first instance seems to be caused by the CrossRef database not having any information for that DOI; see the CrossRef lookup for 10.3917/res.152.0093. It also does not resolve through the resolver at http://dx.doi.org/10.3917/res.152.0093.

The second case is exposing an error in our JSTOR translator. In the meantime, you should be able to use the magic wand / add by identifier button to add that article by DOI. I'll look into fixing the underlying error.

Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/JSTOR.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

Reload the JSTOR page and it should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.

Uhm... This is not a file to me. How do I save that thing into a JScript file? Which command?

Thanks for the answer on Cairn. I see that there is indeed a DOI problem. I've written to them about that.

Here on the other hand, the DOI seems correct but this is not working either: http://www.cairn.info/resume.php?ID_ARTICLE=RES_154_0051

Hi again,
People at Cairn have repaired the DOI problem (effective tomorrow morning) on that journal issue.
But in fact references with correct DOI are not loading up either to Zotero. For instance here http://www.cairn.info/resume.php?ID_ARTICLE=RFAP_134_0313 or here http://www.cairn.info/resume.php?ID_ARTICLE=RES_154_0051.
And I have this error report, which apparently says that my machine is blocking the process. Could you help me with that? Many thanks in advance.

DOI lookups are broken in 2.1b2. They'll be fixed in 2.1b3, which will be out within a day or so.

Will 2.1b3 fix the JSTOR problem as well? I have 2.1b2 and get the "could not save" error with JSTOR.

I saved the new JSTOR.js file in my translators directory, and I am still receiving the error.

EDIT: I am using the newest firefox 4 beta...does that matter to this discussion?

Actually, this thread isn't about a "Could not save" error with JSTOR. Start a new thread and provide a sample URL and a Report ID.

The JSTOR fix is now in the repository (https://www.zotero.org/trac/changeset/7686). It will be in the next Zotero release.

I'll be looking into the Cairn issue.

Oops. As Dan states above, the Cairn issue now just reduces to the general DOI breakage in 2.1b2, which is fixed in 2.1b3. Cairn should work fine now in 2.0.9 as well. Looks like our work here is done.
