Tags - manual removal from automatic tag list?
Hello,
I have searched the forum for an answer, but have not found any, so I hope not to duplicate similar discussions (please forgive me if I do).
My question is the following:
I work a lot with tags, but having done an import from Endnote which went wrong a bit, I now have a lot of tags in the library which don't really make sense (e.g. apples; pears; fruit - all ONE tag, instead of apples, pears, fruit as separate ones). I am manually clearing up the mess. Plus, I have some tags that I don't need any longer which I have deleted.
However, I noticed that when I manually delete tags from the library in the tag panel on the left, they still appear in the automatic tag list when I manually add new tags to items. I would like to avoid this, because I would ultimately like to work with a limited number of tags.
Hence my question what I need to do to make sure that deleted tags don't appear in the automatic tag list. Is it possible to manually delete items from the automatic tag list?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Christiane

arggemHave you tried emptying the trash?
-
CHGworkingThanks for the suggestion. I have done that now (assuming that you meant the Windows trash folder), but that has not changed anything concerning the tags unfortunately.

dstillmanThe Zotero trash. Empty the Zotero trash and then close and reopen the Zotero pane. If the tags are really no longer in use, they should disappear.

CHGworkingThat did the job. I should probably have noticed that Zotero had a trash bin of its own, but alas, sometimes I am blind. Thanks a lot for your kind help and patience.
