First strange behavior, now no reaction and icons lost in OO

Dear all,

I have been using zotero and OO under Ubuntu 10.10 without problems. After a system upgrade first this message appeared after clicking on "add citation":

“Zotero OpenOffice Integration was successfully installed, but it could not be initialized.”

“Firefox could not load the component required to communicate with your word processor.”

Sun java is installed and configured.

I reinstalled the Integration-Add on and now everything is wrong. When I opened OO3.2 the zotero toolbar was detached and all the icons missing. Only the field names appear. When I click on any of them nothing happens. OO extensions do not list anything concerning zotero, the toolbar is only called "Add-On 1".

I also completely uninstalled all zotero addons from firefox and reinstalled them -- no change at all.

Please help! I need the plugin!

Thanks,
versa
  • I reinstalled java now, which turned out this message:

    Setting up sun-java6-bin (6.22-0ubuntu1~10.10) ...
update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java because link group java is broken.
    Setting up sun-java6-jre (6.22-0ubuntu1~10.10) ...
    Setting up sun-java6-plugin (6.22-0ubuntu1~10.10) ...

    What does this mean?

    which java
    /usr/bin/java

Which JRE-version do I need? I can only find v22 in the reps, but

    http://tinyurl.com/2vtr8xq

tells me, that I should install v23.
  • v22 or v23 shouldn't matter for Zotero -
first, test if java is working
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

if it's not, you'll have to find a way to fix that and you're probably better of on the Ubuntu forums for that than here.
  • Thanks, it is working.

I'll try an Ubuntu forum too, but please tell me, if anybody here has ideas. Everything is working except the zotero-plugin.

Hmm, for some reasons Firefox is now called Namoroka.

    Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.14pre) Gecko/20101216 Ubuntu/10.10 (maverick) Namoroka/3.6.14pre

Does this has to do anything with the problem?

    EDIT:

OK, everything is downgraded now. But the plugin still doesn't work. I reinstalled core openoffice parts and then at least the broken zotero-toolbar vanished. I reinstalled the word-processor plugin, java is set to sun -- but no there is no zotero toolbar shown in oowriter at all.

So the status is: FF 3.16.13, sun jre6v22, openoffice ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu

Still the toolbar did not appear in oowriter and was not available in the oowriter toolbar menu.

    Did help.
