Mac OS X can't auto-dl pdfs

Hi,

I'm a history prof in the UK trying to encourage students to use Zotero, and I'm currently helping a user who cannot get auto-downloading of pdfs to work correctly. The 'automatically attach pdfs' option appears checked. The user is saving to his personal library (not to a group). We have run numerous tests using URLs on which I and other users have no trouble getting auto-downloading to work, but this one student cannot get pdfs to auto-download.

After reading this: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/14446/error-591700001-trouble-autodling-pdfs/ , I asked the student to go ahead and upload a debug report while creating a record from http://www.jstor.org/stable/651009 . This is a URL where the translator has no obvious problems and auto-downloading works fine for me and other users. The user was logged into JSTOR at the time of the test. As usual, after running this test, no pdf appeared in the user's library, and no pdf showed up in his Storage folder on his hard drive.

The debug report is D831675134 . The user is running OS X 10.6.5, Firefox 3.6.12 and Zotero 2.0.9 .

Interestingly, I suggested that the student try dragging the pdf link on the webpage ('View PDF') down into his Zotero library to see if Zotero would add the pdf then. He says that this didn't work either, although this was discussed over email and it's possible my instructions were unclear.

If anyone could take a look at the Debug report and shed any light on this, that would be most helpful.

Thanks!
Emma
  • I can't look at the debug, but have you tried disabling all other extensions and custom themes in Firefox, restarting and trying again?
