Upgrade StorageZotero making Firefox/Mac Word 2011 crash

I am using the most recent version of Zotero and Mac Word 2011 (OS 10.5.8) with a 10,000 word document, a lot of citations, and about 200 items in my library, and for the past few weeks I have been experiencing crashes in both Word & Zotero when I try to insert a citation, or edit citations. It seems that Firefox/Zotero is working really slowly - previously almost instantly after clicking "insert citation" the Zotero box would pop up... now Firefox just hangs for 30 seconds or longer, and often will not respond at all, forcing me to quit the application. Other times, when I click on "insert citation", Word will stop responding, forcing me to quit the application. This is really frustrating but I hate the OpenOffice interface and Mendely doesn't support Word 2011 for Mac! I just want Zotero to work like it used to...! The document and library are just going to continue to grow, I need to fix this problem!
