Hi,

I am just preparin a manuscript for Environmental Science and Technology, which is an American Chemical Society operated journal.
Using the corresponding zotero style, I noticed a little discrpancy between ACS general style and the one actually used in EST, which is in the citation:
ACS genral style has the citation in the form of a number in superscript, where EST uses the number in italic between parenthesis.

so that havin EST style depend entirely on ACS genral styla does not work.

I thus modified the part of the general ACS style to:





maybe this should be propagated to the repository.
and if so, how can I proceed ?

Per the ACS instructions:

In ACS publications, references are cited in three ways: superscript numbers, italic numbers on the line and in parentheses, and by author name and year of publication in parentheses inside the punctuation

So, perhaps there needs to be more than one ACS style. Submission instructions are at the bottom of http://www.zotero.org/styles

well, but those aren't really usable. If you've any idea what SVN is, then get an account for Zotero, check out the styles and add your new one. If not, just post it to a public gist on gist.github.com and I or someone else will take care of that for you.

Make sure to add the CC license to the style and also make sure it validates

thanks - I'll hold off on uploading this for now until - if this is a different variety of ACS I'd want to upload it as such and just link EST as a dependent style.

OK - this has since been implemented as ACS citation style 2 and a dependent style. Thread can be closed.
