Any disadvantage to upgrading to 2.0?

There are many possible discussions (including bugs, 2.0 topics) that might apply to this, so I thought I'd just ask the question right out.
I've been using Zotero v. 1.0.10 for a long time without too many hiccups, and this is a big project in its finishing stages. I have Mac OS 10.6.4, Word 2004 v. 11.5.5, and prefer to use Chicago style citations (with "Ibid"). I remember that I didn't upgrade to a higher version at its beta stage because there were some features that were not cross-platform yet-- but now it's 10 months later, and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade? For me it comes down to whether performance and features of 2.0 outweigh the possibility of "project stopping" disadvantages? If anyone has a similar system and has an opinion to share, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
  • 2.0 is stable and a lot faster than 1.0.10 and there aren't any known disadvantages.
    BUT
it's still a major upgrade and I'd generally be wary about doing that towards the end of a large project.
  • You should definitely switch to 2.0 unless you are about to complete a major project and you can't risk any downtime. The upgrade is generally quite smooth -- just make a backup first.

The 1.0 series has not received any bug fixes for more than a year, and it doesn't support many of the site translators.
  • Thanks for the input!
