OpenOffice extension errors

I seem to be having slightly different problems from the other posts that I am seeing in this forum. To begin with, whenever I go to the Extension Manager and click on Zotero, it crashes OOo completely. For that reason, I was unable to use the update feature to install the latest extension, and I am unable to remove the extension to try a clean install. I installed the latest plugin over top of the old one. It still crashes OOo when I click on it in Extension Manager, but it is also not working to add citations.

Here's the error I get when OOo restores itself after clicking on Zotero in the Extension Manager:

"Error loading BASIC document
file:///home/dcroxton/.openoffice.org2/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/8Rg0Ee_/Zotero.oxt/Zotero/script.xlb:
General Error.
General input/output error."
(very helpful, I'm sure)

Here's the error I get when I try to add a citation:

"A Scripting Framework error occurred while running the Basic script
vnd.sun.start.script:Zotero.Zotero.ZoterInsertCitation?
language=Basic&location=application.

Message: BasicProviderImpl::getScript: no script!"
  • I forgot to mention these details: OOo 2.3, Zotero 1.0rc5, Ubuntu Gutsy.

    I decided to uninstall the OOo from the Gutsy repositories, which had given me some other trouble as well, and install the one from the OOo website. It worked!
  • Although Zotero is now working fine, I still get the above error beginning "Error loading BASIC document..." whenever I open OOo. Since Zotero seems to have switched to Python rather than OOo Basic, I think this error must be left over from the old version of Zotero. I think the new extensions don't even use macro modules, so I thought I would just delete the Zotero module. Only problem, it asks for a password!? When I can't provide one, it won't let me modify or delete the module. Did Zotero put a password on its module? Do I need to ask about this in an OOo forum?
  • This is a nice dialogue I'm carrying on with myself...
    Okay, I deleted the whole uno_modules cache directory a second time, then reinstalled the Zotero extension, then I got the "read-only" error that everyone else is getting -- which is a good thing, because I know how to fix that. Everything seems to be working now.
  • Thanks for the help. I have had the same error. I've deleted the uno_module cache and now everything works.
