is there a way to grab pdfs directly into zotero?

hello there,

when using firefox (on a macbook) to research literatures, each time a link to a pdf comes up it open the pdf in Preview. Then to save it in zotero, we have to first save the pdf somewhere and then add a link to it for zotero or copy it in zotero. We'd like ot find a way around this and just save it directly through zotero, in order ot use zotero's note taking functions and to save time...is there some way to do this?

    the easiest is to use the FF plugin for pdfs

    You can then use "attach snapshot of current page" to attach a copy of the pdf.
    Otherwise I wouldn't know a simpler solution, no.

    ok thus far the FF add on for pdfs has worked for grabbing pdfs directly from zotero- but we still cannot use the highlight and comment tools from zotero...is there anyway of doing this with pdfs?

    no. Zotero calls external applications for pdfs, the annotations are for html only.
    One thing you can do is to configure Zotero to open pdfs with Preview (see the launch non-native file description hidden pref here http://www.zotero.org/support/hidden_prefs#general_preferences ) Adobe Pro, Foxit, or any other pdf editor of your choice - you can then annotate (provided your pdf editor supports annotations). Since those annotations are saved to the file, they will sync.
