large files in my Zotero profile
I’m working in an institute where all the data is stored on a main server and each one has a “roaming profile”.
Every time I logon it takes me 3-4 minutes and our IT guy told me I have large files in my Zotero profile (in “Documents and Settings”) which are uploaded every time I logon. So now I need to figure out if I can move/delete them. I’m using Zotero 2.0.8
These are the files (each one between 12-14MB):
zotero.sqlite.1.bak
zotero.sqlite.65.bak
zotero.sqlite.72.bak
zotero.sqlite.bak
I think these are backup files so I guess it is possible at least to move them to a different folder; does anyone know?
Another question I have is if my zotero data is stored on line (I know it is because I can access it from any computer I want) then why do I need a backup at all; why can’t I just download everything in a case of a problem?

.bak and .1.bak are recent automatic backups made every 12 hours. You can type about:config in your Firefox address bar, search for extensions.zotero.backup.numBackups, and set that to 0 or 1, if you prefer.
But syncing is not intended to be a replacement for backups. If you accidentally delete something and sync, it's gone.
