2.1b1 - Bluebook law-review - date abbreviation

I'm working with several newspaper articles and am having trouble with the dates.

The first problem is that none of the dates are abbreviated in accordance with Bluebook style. For example, a date input as 12/22/2010 or Dec. 22, 2010 or December 22, 2010 will all output as December 22, 2010 when it should abbreviate December to Dec.

The second problem is that several of the citations will only output the year of the article. I cannot figure out why some work and some do not as each citation is formatted in the exact same manner.

Are these issues with the beta version? Should I downgrade to 2.0? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

This is with Z 2.1 beta, and the Bluebook style that ships with Zotero? If the answers there are both yes, and you can wait a day or two, I'll take a look and see whether the style code I've been working with locally during testing is worth offering up. Z 2.1 can do some things needed by Bluebook (parallel cites, footnote backreferences) that weren't possible in 2.0.

The date formatting issues should be simple to clear up, but it would make more sense to do any debugging (if needed) in the upgraded style, since the code is a complete from-scratch rewrite.
  • That is correct. I am using 2.1b1 and the Bluebook Law Review style downloaded from zotero.org.

On another note, I'm having some additional problems with the dates for books, websites, and reports. In those, it's only putting in the year (which for books is fine except it puts a an extra space between the opening parenthesis and the year). Also on a second reference to a book, the supra reference to the prior footnote is blank.

also - the dates on the last visited portions of the cite do not use the bluebook date abbreviations, ie - Sep vs. Sept. in Bluebook

    Thanks for the help!

Great stuff. Thanks for the sample references; it's very helpful to see the scope of target forms you'll be needing in the short term. I'll take a look this weekend, and post again when I have something to show.
