Inviting members to a group

I've created some private groups so share literature with a few colleagues. I have sent them formal invites (I am the group manager). These invites are confirmed on the group page we have. They have not received word via email at all about joining these groups, however. Is there a step I'm missing?

    I invited them by their Zotero username, not their email. (FYI).

    Most likely its a spam filter or they have those particular notifications disabled. If they know they can accept the invites by logging in and viewing their profile page or the main group page (if the group is private, users who have a pending invitation should still be able to see the group page).
