Switch to webdav

Hello

Instead of zotero server (which I used to use), I've set up a webdav on my own server, which verifies when checked. I have clicked the checkbox the 'Sync attachment files in my library using Webdav'

But when I click the the green button, it still is trying to synch with zotero server and not my webdav. I even deleted my username and then when trying to synch, message box popus up saying I need to enter my details, even though I want to sync with my own webdav

Any advice?

thanks
  • Perhaps it is trying to connect to share or access group libraries? You will still need your Zotero.org credentials regardless, since metadata syncing is still done with Zotero.org. Only the attachements (PDFs and such) are synced via WebDAV.
  • Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not using group libraries. This isn't checked.

Regarding webdav, I thought its a complete alternative to zotero server. Therefore, all my zotero data is stored in webdav, and am able to synch to and from it on multiple locations?

I'm still confused as why zotero insists on trying to synch with its own server - the synch isn't checking my webdav account.

I backed up my data. Uninstalled and reinstalled zotero addon, but it still remembers my all my settings. Must be stored in firefox somewhere? Wondering if I need to to do a clean reinstall of zotero, but don't know how to do that.

It's not. The Zotero server is required for all syncing.
  • The metadata is synced to the Zotero server no matter what you do. Metadata syncing is free and unlimited. File syncing can be done by WebDAV or Zotero File Storage -- the latter has a 100 MB free allowance.

WebDAV is a simple protocol that only really allows for file storage -- metadata syncing, and managing which files to sync, requires the specialized support of the Zotero.org servers. So a WebDAV user will need to access both servers to use syncing.
