If subfolders are deleted the references in the subfolder should be deleted from the main library

I managed to import loads of duff references into Zotero. I deleted the subfolder with these references in but to my frustration found that all of the duff references were still remaining in the main library. I found this quite frustrating, and ended up having to delete the entire database and then re-import in order to get rid of these duff references.

If the advanced search had allowed me to delete the search results, I would have been able to do it this way.

To delete from the library from within a collection, use Ctrl/Cmd-Delete or right-click on the item(s) and select "Delete Selected Item(s) From Library". This works in a saved search as well.

If you just hit delete, the items are only removed from the collection.

P.S. In the advanced Search mode, the "Author" does not appear. Is this an oversight?

Try "Creator". You can hover over a condition in the list to see the fields it includes.
