I have Windows 7. Often, when I use the citation tools in Word, I get this error. Once this happens, I cannot use any of the interfacing features between zotero and word. The only way I have been able to get around this is to uninstall FireFox, and then reinstall. Sometimes I have deleted zotero as an extension, then uninstalled Firefox, and then reinstalled everything. Then it works.....for awhile. Then I try to use it, and I get this message.

I have a lot riding on this feature (working on PhD). I want to figure out how to make it work effectively 95% or more of the time.

    You're getting an error that suggests (possibly erroneously) that all of your styles are corrupt. Go to the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences and click Reset Translators and Styles, and then restart Firefox. Then try again.

    And you might want to make a backup copy of the 'styles' directory in your Zotero data directory first so you can look into what caused this if this does in fact fix the problem.

    I went into Zotero Preferences / Styles and deleted what was there. I reset the Translators and Styles, and re-synced, and it works. I have made a copy of the styles directory for future reference.

    To be clear, this shouldn't ever be necessary unless you have filesystem corruption or something else damaged files in that directory. If you have a backup copy of the 'styles' directory from before resetting, zip it up and send it to support@zot....org with a link to this thread.
