citing newspaper ads, notices & sports results

When I write, I use the Modern Humanities Research Association (Note with Bibliography) citation style to drop in footnotes to the text.

However, I am experiencing a problem with this style. I am citing different issues from various newspapers. The first time I cite a newspaper, I get the full title of the newspaper, place of publication, publisher, and I manually enter the specific issue date.

This works fine. However, when I wish to enter a second or third reference to the same newspaper further on in the text and I go to add in my footnote, I select the newspaper and the Editor box in the "Add Citation" window shows that I will have a blank footnote - no title.

I realize that part of the problem is how I initially saved the newspapers in Zotero. For "item type" I allowed "Book" because it imported more data about the publisher than "Newspaper Article". Along with the title of the newspaper, Zotero saved the name of the chief "contributor" not "author" and this information does not seem to be automatically repeated with a second or third citation of the paper. Hence my blank footnotes!

In short, my questions are as follows:

How should I save newspapers in Zotero, with regard to Item type, so that when I cite the newspaper repeatedly in a Word document, [deploying the Modern Humanities Research Association (Note with Bibliography) citation style], the title of the paper is repeated in the footnotes?

NB - I am not citing articles from the newspapers, therefore I do not have separate authors to cite - I am citing advertisements, notices and sporting results.
  • So you used "Book" because "Newspaper Article" didn't have a publisher field?
  • Partly - I used "Book" because it had a publisher field and I wanted to capture that information from the library catalog.

But also, "Newspaper ARticle" does not fit what I am doing. I am not citing individual articles, with discrete authors. I am citing advertisments and announcements featured in the newspapers. These ads don't have authors.

Instead I want the title of the newspaper to be repeated in the footnote and I want to manually enter the issue date.
