Style Request: Society for American Archaeology (SAA)

This style is very similar to the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition, however, as section 3.9 of the attached link indicates, the spacing is different and the dates at the end are left out. Also the United States postal Service state abbreviations are considered unacceptable.

Adding this particular citation style would be very useful, as it is used by almost all North and South American archaeologists.

  • There seems to be a lot more going on than you say, but have a look at what I did so far:

    go here:
    http://gist.github.com/542997
download the style using the "Raw" link on the top right.
Install by dragging the downloaded file "saa-author-date.csl" into any open Firefox window.
You will get prompted if you want to install the style - click OK.
Ignore the grey bar saying "no style information..." on top of the page.
If you do not get prompted to install, make sure windows hasn't changed or added a file ending.
Make sure Windows is set to show file extensions, and check that the file ends with .csl (and not with .xml, .cls or .txt).
  • OK, the updated style is now on the new csl 1.0 repository at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles and will eventually move to citationstyles.org
