Zotero screwing up access to any Google site

Hello,

I have quite a strange problem. Anytime I try to access any google site (including www.google.com, google scholar, and gmail) it re-routes to my University's off-campus login, and even if I go through with that totally unnecessary process, the page then re-routes to some science search engine (BLAST).

Problem started yesterday evening. I am on a Mac running 10.6.3, with Firefox 3.6.8, and Zotero 2.0.3.

The problem is somehow related to Zotero because after deleting cache and all history, running Onyx, etc etc, I finally deleted Firefox entirely (including preferences and profiles) after backing up bookmarks and the Zotero folder.

Re-installed Firefox and all google sites are fine. Restored bookmarks and google sites still work fine. Installed Zotero and all sites were still fine, including after syncing.

Finally, I shut down Firefox, replaced the new Zotero folder with the backed up one, and re-started Firefox. Now, all of the sudden, google sites do not work again.

Anybody have any ideas? Help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot,

R
  • Ah, fixed it. Funny how that works - been trying to sort it out for 4 hours, and then realize something just after I posted the above.

Zotero has it's own cache of proxies (or proxy list is a better term perhaps?) So somehow it had gotten all the google sites stuck in there as re-routing to my University off-campus access.

    How, I have no idea.

Anyway, deleted the offending proxies, and all seems to be working now.
