Firefox freeze when generating a report

Hi all,
I had to switch to MS Word for the purpose of a project report and therefore use Zotero (2.0.3) with Firefox (3.6.8) in my Win7 environment. The issue I run into: when trying to generate a report of a selected entry in Zotero, Firefox freezes (no error message is showing up from Zotero).
Trying the same when working in my Ubuntu 10.04 environment (same Firefox and Zotero versions), it works.
Any ideas of how to overcome the problem when working with Win7?
Thanks in advance.

This is while trying to generate a report of a single item?

You can generate real-time debug output for the generation attempt to see if it's doing anything or has actually frozen. In either case, post the last few lines here.
  • Hi Dan,
    Thanks for your help.
Yes, the freeze occurs when I try to generate a report both of a single item and also of multiple items. I attach the output below, including the error report from Win7 when Firefox froze (it's in German due to the German Win7 Version but I hope it is still helpful).

  • We would need the last few lines of the debug output—that appears to just be startup output.
  • This is all I get when Firefox is running and I click on Zotero and try to generate a report from any item in my library. The only additional information I see is that that Firefox tries to load a new page (indicated by the rotating icon in the tab bar), but crashes during that process immediately.
    Thanks,
    Wolfgang
  • Are you sure you're looking at the bottom of the output? At the very least there should be additional output when you click on the item. All that output shows is loading your start page.
  • Sorry, you are right. Below are the last few lines.
    Thanks,

  • OK, that would be output for clicking on an item. There's no more after you click Generate Report?

Does this happen for all items, or only some? Have you tried disabling other Firefox extensions?
  • I think you led me to the solution: Bitdefender Antiphishing Toolbar 2.0 seems to have caused the crashes. Interestingly, not with all items. Only some very few of the items in my library repeatedly produced reports, but the vast majority of the ~ 50 items I tried in the meantime caused Firefox to crash.

Just in case this information is helpful to you - here are my other Firefox extensions that work well with Zotero:

    Readability 1.0
    Xmarks 3.7.8
    Flashblock 1.5.13
    Leo Search 1.0.0
    Multiproxy Switch 1.33
    Download Helper 4.8

    Thanks again for your help!

    Wolfgang
