Raw beginner, struggling :(

I'm a beginner and I'm finding this really frustrating.
I downloaded 3 articles apparently successfully - it said Zotero was saving them - but when I go back, and refresh My Library, nothing is there. Also, I don't see any columns - without columns, drag and drop of my pdf's from my hard drive isn't working.
I can't spend hours and hours on this learning curve, defeats the purpose...

  • Can you post links to publicly accessible sample articles that don't work for you?
  • Are you confused about what the Zotero client is? (It's not the same as zotero.org.)

  • I am having trouble with same thing.

I have downloaded the program and successfully downloaded articles, but I can't figure out how to sync. I have been trying to follow the advice posted, but none seems to work.

The "sync" article talk about pressing the green arrow, which I can't find, or resetting your preferences to sync automatically. I can't find any preference tab, including clicking on the link that says preferences (it shows you what it will look like but not how to get there).

    Any advice?
  • have you opened the Zotero pane by clicking on "Zotero" in the bottom right of your browser (status bar)?
Have you done and seen this: "Once Firefox installs Zotero and restarts, Zotero can be accessed by clicking on the Zotero icon in the bottom-right corner of the Firefox window. Zotero runs in its own pane within Firefox. "

If you're trying to do anything on the Zotero webpage you're doing it wrong.

    The instructions state:
To access the Zotero preference window, either open the Zotero pane, click the actions menu button (the 'gear' icon, see screenshot) at the top of the left column and select the “Preferences…” option, or alternatively, select “Add-ons” in the Tools menu of Firefox, then select Zotero and click the “Options” button.
