Upgrade StorageFeatures and improvements request
Hello, I am a new Zotero user, and I was recommended for this program because it got most of the desired features that other annotation tools miss. While my experience with the program is actually very convenient and sufficient for my studies, I think there are features missing and existing tools in need for improvement
For starters, as with tools that need to be improved, there is no freehand highlighter, and it's only just text-select highlighter and underline, as well as the drawing annotation tool. This could be the main reason I am making this post: the drawing tool is very, very choppy. I would try drawing letters, or arrow heads, and they would go everywhere but that. As well as a limited zoom in, with no indication of the zoom percentage, all of the annotation tools have two problems in common: color variety and size. There is selective color choices, besides not being customizable, nor resizable to a size standard for all annotation tools (as the drawing's least size is 0.2, while text annotation's size is 6, which doesn't give a good field when you want to fit text in box, or in certain areas where they should be small) And I think that would be it for now regarding improvements.
Features that are not in Zotero yet, include -but not limited to- : Full screen, full no invert dark theme and background, different forms and geometric shapes other than a square, visible notes inside those forms and shapes other than the notes annotation tool, opacity for text, draw and highlighter, let alone freehand highlighter not being in Zotero yet, add empty pages before or after selected pages, add images to pages (with transparency support), add full pages -resized and fit to the PDF pages' size- before or after selected pages, multiple drawing annotation tools to provide more than a size or color, associate these tools with better shortcuts rather than mainly pressing alt+number for main tool, and numbers for different colors (like, for example, shortcuts for annotation size, shortcuts for snapping between pages, shortcuts for the varied options, as I mentioned above about multiple drawing annotation tools, ...), close library tab, options for turning off import pop-up for the PDF (as it didn't help for me, ad it doesn't, and it most probably won't, because what am I exactly importing if I'm only opening a PDF file to annotate?), and I think that would be it for now regarding features request.
I know it's A LOT to the point where I think a whole new Zotero version has to be literally made for these features, and I highly appreciate this project for being helpful for my studies as an Ubuntu user. I preferred sharing my thoughts about this in a very raw form, as asking Chatgpt, Gemini or other similar tools to give the answer would mostly ruin what am I interpreting to anyone reading this
