Word and Firefox on external drive

Hi. I use Zotero 2.0 and have Firefox 3.6 installed on an external drive (not portablefirefox, it is installed in a portable apps program). However when I try to insert a citation or do anything in word it says "Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Firefox is running and try again". I tried restarting both programs and they don't work.

    Does it work if you use a standard Firefox installation?

    Works perfectly on a standard installation. I realise that the Zotero.dot add-in in Word is looking for the installation on the C: drive even though Firefox, zotero and its storage directory are located on the portable and the WinWord Integration was installed there as well

    Ordinarily, it doesn't look for the installation on the C: drive—there is code to do this but it only gets called if you have ZoneAlarm installed with ForceField enabled, at least as far as we know.

    Is there anyway that I can use the Zotero in FF on the external drive to communicate with MS Word or will I have to install Zotero locally on each computer I go on?
