Sync fails: "Error 500 ... Made no progress during upload -- stopping" (corrupted item on server)

Report ID: 643901032

Zotero 10.0.7 (x64) on Windows 11, locale zh-CN.

Sync always fails with a red exclamation mark and "An error occurred". The submitted report (ID above) repeats:

Error 500 for item APcDhFwe in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: An error occurred

Error 500 for item peY4Sbov in My Library:
ZoteroObjectUploadError: An error occurred

Made no progress during upload -- stopping

Details:
- APcDhFwe is a journalArticle: "Critically reviewing literature: A tutorial for new researchers" (DOI 10.1016/j.ausmj.2019.05.001).
- peY4Sbov is its child attachment: a 0-byte "Publisher page" web snapshot (contentType text/html, size 0), which appears corrupted.
- I deleted the item locally (moved to Trash) and restarted Zotero, but the 500 errors persist. This suggests the corrupted objects remain on the server and block any sync (upload or delete) involving them.

Could a staff member please delete/repair the corrupted objects APcDhFwe and peY4Sbov on the server side so sync can proceed?

Thanks!
  • Nothing to do with server state. You used some plugin or AI tool that created local items with invalid keys that can't sync. You'll need to 1) contact the tool developer and ask them to fix it and to fix your database, 2) identify the items and delete them (and empty the trash), or 3) delete your database and sync to pull down your online library. I'm afraid we can't help with this.

If all the affected items are in the trash, you can just empty the trash.
