Read aloud error - links to footnotes are read

Trying out the Read Aloud mode in a just updated Zotero 10 — it is SUPER good!
Wanted to leave a note here though, that in my book (epub) the links to footnotes. Looking at the source in Calibre, the footnotes look like this (shortened the sentences, the footnotes are 1–3 now, references below) (It's HTML code, so please look at the page source. Perhaps clearest to identify is the consecutive SUP-element after a sentence ending (but could also be in the middle of sentences, or roman counting?).

This is a sentence.1 This is another sentence 2 And a third sentence.3

In this case, the numbers 1, 2, 3 are correctly identified as part of the previous sentence, but still read out loud — I find that a bit distracting.

And at the end of the file are references that the footnotes refer to (they would be read out including the number, but that's not a problem as they are the text now.

REF 1

REF 2

REF 3

Thanks for looking into this!

  • Addition:
Numbers corresponding to footnotes are also read out in a PDF, see e.g. this paper:
    https://www.degruyterbrill.com/document/doi/10.1515/fns-2023-2016/html

Here, the footnote is read out after the paragraph ends, which I am fine to skip.
Other things in the reader that surprised me regarding this paper:
    - the DOI is read out
    - the author contact info is read out (end of the first page) after the paragraph spanning to the second page is read out
