Fails recording from ScienceDirect

The following link fails to be imported when clicking on the icon on the right of the adress bar: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6T6X-4S1JK1R-2&_user=993194&_coverDate=05/15/2008&_rdoc=1&_fmt=high&_orig=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_acct=C000015638&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=993194&md5=158cc297fb97142dd4c3e8a58e99fc11 - http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.foreco.2008.01.038 - Making forestry decisions with multiple criteria: A review and an assessment, Luis Diaz-Balteiroa and Carlos Romero.

After clicking, zotero immediately tells me (translated from French) that the record failed, an error happened, please consult < for more information. (I don't know how to consult "<").

Importing other references from ScienceDirect works. Importing the equivalent reference from ISI WoK [ http://apps.isiknowledge.com/full_record.do?product=WOS&search_mode=AdvancedSearch&qid=9&SID=U2@cL5l6PCbIpa54an8&page=2&doc=15 ] works.

The Science Direct address you gave works for me.
  • After a reboot it still does not, for me. What can I do to investigate?
  • Actually I believe ScienceDirect is still partly broken (and that's the page you should've been pointed to by the error message).
  • You seem to be right. The report thing tells me: [JavaScript Error: "Guest-mode saving from ScienceDirect temporarily disabled due to a site update -- an updated Zotero translator will be available soon" {file: "file:///home/olivier/.mozilla/firefox/qpyazq60.default/zotero/translators/ScienceDirect.js" line: 0}].

A bit strange however that noksagt does not get the error, and, for me, that other pages work. Anyway, I'll just wait for the update...

I tested from a machine with a subscription to that journal. I was not using "guest mode". Perhaps you were not accessing the page from an IP address that had access to the fulltext article?
  • Well, that's what's strange here. I do have access to this journal from my IP. I can read the full text PDF (I'm not logged in), and when going back to the list of volumes in that journal (looking at the list on the left) volume 255 is green indeed. Thus I should not be using "guest mode" either.

Note that waiting for a patch to the translator is an acceptable solution for me and might be the quickest way around that question. If however you want to investigate why I am in guest mode, I am ready to provide the information you need.
  • Still broken? When will it be repaired?

Just tried again and got report id 1297364192.
  • Guest mode has not yet been fixed. I made the recent fixes to PDF saving, but I have not looked into guest mode.
