LitMatrix Plugin: View and filter annotations across your Zotero library

Hi everyone,

This post is to let everyone know about a plugin I created with the help of Claude.

Motivation/Goal:
I used to struggle with recalling papers I had read, their main findings, and the points I disagreed with. To address this, I used to import my Zotero PDF annotations into Obsidian and then use Dataview (an Obsidian plugin) to organize all the papers into a table. This allowed me to view annotations from all my papers side by side, with highlights of different colors displayed in separate columns. I found this incredibly helpful for building a mental map of the existing literature.

However, the workflow had one major drawback, the additional step of importing annotations into Obsidian.

LitMatrix:
LitMatrix aims to solve this problem by bringing this workflow directly into Zotero. It displays annotations from across your library in a single window, allowing you to filter them using various criteria, such as tags and authors.

The goal is to make it easier to revisit previously read papers, compare findings, and identify connections across the literature without having to switch between applications.

I am sure some people will find this useful. I would love to hear about your thoughts.

Regarding development:
I am not a software developer, and the plugin is currently tailored to my personal needs and preferences. Given my full-time work commitments, I may not be able to accommodate feature requests or actively maintain its development. Therefore, I would love to see the Zotero developers implement this functionality natively if they find it useful. Alternatively, I would be happy if another developer forked the repository and continued developing the plugin.

Lastly, I would like to thank the incredible developers behind Zotero for building such a great piece of software!
