Upgrade StorageISBN lookup fails on iOS but succeeds on desktop (Open WorldCat)
I'm encountering a reproducible ISBN lookup problem in Zotero for iOS 2.0.8 (build 489).
Test ISBN: 9781788452922 — Bunny vs Monkey: Multiverse Mix-up! by Jamie Smart.
Zotero desktop: Add by Identifier succeeds. The imported record lists Open WorldCat as its Library Catalog.
Zotero iOS: Both Scan Barcode and Add by Identifier spin for a long time and eventually display “Failed.”
The iOS failure occurs on both Wi-Fi and mobile data, at different locations.
Other English books at our school show the same failure.
French books scan and import successfully on the same iPhone, using both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
Another English ISBN was successfully retrieved on iOS from K10plus.
During the first desktop lookup, Zotero opened a WorldCat window requesting acceptance of terms and cookies. After accepting these, I was able to import the record successfully.
This suggests a possible difference between desktop and iOS ISBN retrieval, particularly for records retrieved through Open WorldCat.
Is this a known issue with WorldCat lookups on iOS? Would a debug log from the iOS app be helpful?
I'm located in Geneva, Switzerland. All tests were performed here, using both Wi-Fi and Swiss mobile data.
