AI4Paper for Zotero: PDF reading, reusable notes, and questions across your papers
Hi everyone,
I’m wdcpclover, and I work on the AI4Paper team. I’d like to introduce our Zotero plugin and hear feedback on three reading tasks it supports.
1. Understand a paper while reading it. In the right-hand “阅” workspace, open the reading-assistance area to translate selected text, ask questions about the current paper, or make a structured reading note. For example, start with “What is the research question, and how is it tested?” Then check the explanation against the original methods and results.
2. Find and reuse your notes. The note-management area brings together handwritten notes and AI reading notes. You can find, edit, and export them instead of rebuilding your reading record when you start writing. One useful exercise is to return to a paper a week later and check whether your note still helps you explain its main finding and limitation.
3. Ask a question across a set of papers. In the knowledge-base area, work with a group of your own papers, ask a cross-paper question, and follow the sources in the answer to check the evidence. A practical starting question is “Where do these studies agree, and where do their findings differ?” Treat the answer as a reading aid and verify each comparison yourself.
Installation guide: https://ai4paper.pro/docs/guide/install.html
Feature guide and current interface: https://ai4paper.pro/docs/features/plugin-function-index
Current membership and usage information: https://ai4paper.pro/#pricing
The installation guide currently lists Zotero 7 and newer (checked October 3, 2026). This is the published support range, not a claim that I have tested every version and operating system. Please check the current guide before installing. Downloading the plugin is free; membership and usage conditions for individual features are described on the website. We are not presenting this as an open-source, entirely free, or entirely local product; please review the current product information before using private or unpublished materials.
I’d especially welcome feedback on which of these tasks is difficult in your current workflow, and what you would want a short tutorial to demonstrate. For an issue report, please include your Zotero version and operating system, without uploading private research files to this public discussion.
