[Plugin] Relate Selected Items: Batch link or unlink multiple items in one click

Hi everyone,

I've created a lightweight plugin for Zotero 7+ (and compatible with Zotero 8/9): Relate Selected Items.

Why this plugin?

In native Zotero, relations are mutual but not transitive. If you have 5 papers on the same topic and want to link them together, you have to manually open the "Related" tab and pick links 10 different times. This plugin solves this by adding context menu commands to batch-relate (or batch-unrelate) selected items instantly.

Key Features:


  • Batch Clique Linking: Select multiple items, right-click, and choose Relate Selected Items to Each Other to link all of them together (N × (N − 1) clique).

  • Batch Unlinking: Choose Unrelate Selected Items from Each Other to remove mutual relations only among the selected items (links to external/unselected items remain untouched).

  • Context-Aware: The menu items dynamically appear only when two or more regular items are selected (automatically filtering out attachments and standalone notes).

  • Fast & Safe: Uses transactional database updates with proper window cleanup and synchronization.
